ABOUT THE CHILL

The Chill is Alaska's newest adult amateur ice hockey league dedicated to providing a competitive and enjoyable experience for skilled intermediate and novice players. Our 10-game open division summer session begins play on June 3rd and our inaugural full season will run from between September 2025 - May 2026 at Kelley Create Ice Center, Ben Boeke, Dempsey Anderson and the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska.

Originally formed in 2018 as Moose Hockey Alaska, we have organized nearly 500 games of adult league hockey and know what it takes to provide a quality experience. Our players consistently rate us 4.8 out of 5.0 and we foster a strong community by creating an environment that people want to be a part of.

The Chill will operate under the auspices of the Alaska State Hockey Association and USA Hockey and is open to those 18 years of age or older.

There's always something exciting happening on and off the ice.

Join us for 22 regular season games between September and May plus a three game guaranteed playoff series competing for the Chugach & Mixer Memorial Cups. The season includes the annual Heritage Classic outdoor games and All-star games for each division, All-told a minimum of 25 games per season.

The Chill will offer two divisions, the Sourdough division for highly experienced intermediate level players including B and C skaters. Our Cheechako division is perfect for experienced house league skaters,

and those newer to the game. (D/D2) Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player, there's a division for you!

Experience the fun of published stats driven by our real-time scoring platform, and enjoy value adds throughout the season including year-end awards. Our platform allows for easy and effective roster management and allows captains, coaches and players to focus on games with balanced teams and competitive parity.

Our founder and league commissioner Brad Spees was captivated by the Philadelphia Flyers Stanley Cup teams of the mid 1970's and was an avid street hockey player as a kid. Upon moving to Alaska, Brad hit the ice and skated in over 60 AAHL and RAHL novice games before founding the predecessor of The Chill, Moose Hockey Alaska in 2018. Brad's love of the game and positive attitude inspires players and teams to strive for excellence.

As Coach in over 500 adult league games Brad has led teams to five championships. While winning is great, Brad is focused on each player getting the most out of their game. He believes every player, from the most experienced to those newer to the game, have more fun when having a way to measure progress, keep score and perfect their game.
